The Culinary Handbook, Presumed First

The Culinary Handbook, Presumed First

antique,out-of-print

Since the second edition of this book is dated 1904, I assume this is a first edition, published sometime before 1904. John Willy Press, Chicago. This book is organized in alphabetica order, which makes it a easy reference book to use. I get a kick out of some of the delightfully opinionated entries, such as the definition of the word "menu:" "Why should the word 'menu' head our American dinner bills? Why should the progressive American ape dying France?" And Fellowes goes on for half a column. This copy, though showing a bit of wear on the cover, has spotless pages. (Marked down from $56.00.)
